What should we know when exporting Pet food to China?

  With the upgrading of pet market consumptions, imported pet food has been hot pursuit by domestic consumers in recent years. And the import volume has been increasing year after year. I. What is pet food? Pursuant to the “Supervision and Management Measures for the Insp e ction and Quarantine of Import and Export Feed and Feed Additive”, issued by General Administration of China Customs (hereafter referred as GACC), Article 69: feed refers to the products and raw materials that are planted, bred, processed and produced to feed the animals. Registration statistics on animal feed and feed additives in 2021 (MARA register license)

  Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of P.R.China has approved 1,193 register license in an anually basis from January to December 2021, for imported feed and feed additive products. In terms of product categories, there are 319 feed additives, 187 single feeds, 72 compound feeds, 8 feed premix, 9 concentrate supplements, 292 cat complete foods, 292 dog complete foods, and 14 pet health products. There are a sum of 595 feed products and 598 pet feed products. In terms of months, there are 100 appvoed register license released in Jan, 99 in Feb, 92 in Mar, 164 in Apr & May, 135 in Jun & Jul, 123 in Aug, 272 in Sep & Oct, and 208 products in Nov & Dec. Compared with 1,258 approved register license in 2020, the quantity in 2021 is similar. In 2019, 594; in 2018, 568 and 562 in 2017. New Pet Food Register License Issued by MARA in May 2021

  According to Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Affairs of China, Decree No. 429, the newly approved 264 feed and feed additive products produced by 76 companies includig Emerald Kalama Chemical B.V., have been issued import register license.   General Administration udpated the last registered pet food manufacturing list for French pet food companies in April 26th, with 2 new additions:LA NORMANDISE; United Petfood France. Overseas factories who want to export feed products to China need to apply for REGISITERED LICENSE from Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China (MARA/MOA) and Access to General Administration of China Customs (GACC/AQSIQ) but what they should do shall be in accordance with specific conditions of their own county and the product.  Simple GACC & MARA Procedures for foreign companies: -Obtain an import registration license from the China’s Ministry of Agriculture. -Apply for market access with the General Administration for China Customs. -Have their manufacturing facility be registered by GACC

Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China Approved 13 Pet Food SKUs into China market

Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs issued Announcement No. 302, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the "Administrative Measures on the Registration of Imported Feed and Feed Additives", approved the registration or renewal of 220 types of feed and feed additive products produced by 55 companies.
